Canon
Still Video combines conventional still camera technology
with the video medium to produce images that can be used
in any video environment. When you take pictures with the
Canon Still Video camera, they are recorded on the Video Floppy
disk in a special analogue format. These images can be
used with ordinary video equipment, including television
displays, videotape recorders and video printers. Of
course, now they can also be imported to your computer
with a video capture card, to give you high quality
images for a wide range of applications.

The Video Floppy disk is a magnetic storage medium,
containing 50 tracks on which information can be
recorded. Depending on the capabilities of the Still
Video camera, a Video Floppy disk can store 25 or 50
colour pictures, in frame or field mode respectively.
Field mode pictures produce very good quality results
when played back by the camera and digitized, but frame
mode offers the additional resolution necessary for high
quality image processing and printing, and is recommended
for Canon RC-570 users.
In addition to the video information stored on a VF disk
track, each picture is tagged with the date and time when
it is recorded. This information is extracted
automatically by the camera, to provide almost unique
identification of each picture, which can be stored by
the computer with the image
The Canon RC-570 camera introduces another important
function: the ability to record still pictures on Video
Floppy disks from an ordinary video source. This means
that you can now capture pictures with the computer,
modify them, and then record them back to the Video
Floppy disk. Any PCbased images from popular applications
can be recorded, making the medium ideal for preparing
video presentations, catalogues, archives and training
material.
